Tax and spend, tax and spend, TAX AND SPEND!
What happened to “Hope and Change”? “…most transparent government…”?
What happened to OUR government?
Is the problem the Democrats? the Republicans?
The problem is politicians!
Career politicians who place themselves above the rules (laws) they enforce upon us. Career politicians who forced an extensive and expensive healthcare law on a public that did not want that particular law while exempting themselves from the very same law and keeping their own premium healthcare that you and I pay for. Career politicians who can’t fix a retirement fund the public continuously pay into while exempting themselves from the very same retirement fund and keeping their own premium retirement plan that you and I pay for. A retirement plan that not only pays these career politicians’ retirement but also pays retirement to their spouses (who never worked for the government). Career politicians that cannot be taken to court by the people that employ them (you and I) unless they allow it. Career politicians that bicker like children (my apologies to real children for the comparison).
This current “gridlock” in congress is a result of neither side willing to compromise to the point of success. The ASSES demand the ELEPHANTS raise taxes. The ELEPHANTS demand the ASSES cut spending. NEITHER side is discussing the REAL solution…reduce government.
The government of the United States has gotten so bloated, expensive, and out of control that nothing will stop the debt…except reducing government.
Too many social programs. Too many federal programs that are duplicated (and more controllable) at the state level. Too many programs that nobody really knows WHAT they do. Bureaucracy upon bureaucracy upon bureaucracy.
What if they cut some REALLY IMPORTANT program? All programs are “really important” to some segment of the public.
What’s needed is a straight, cross-the-board, no exceptions 10% CUT in government bureaucracy…to start with. Next, get rid of those programs that are duplicated at the state level. Department of Education, Health and Human Services, Welfare. Return to the constitutional limits the federal government is SUPPOSED to be limited by. Get OUT of the United Nations…it’s a money pit for the United States. Quite sending money to governments that despise the United States and/or don’t spend the money given to them on their citizens. Get OUT of all the “secret” wars (why are we meddling in the affairs of other countries when our own is in such a state as this?).
THAT ought to be worth a few hundred billion.

Actually, the majority of Americans did want a comprehensive health care plan before the insurance lobbies convinced everyone that was socialism. The biggest piece of our spending right now is defense, which Republicans will never cut.
